Based in the shadow of some of Canada's most spectacular mountains, in Squamish, British Columbia, OnSight began designing and building technical sewn products in 1994.
Founded by a climber and mountaineer, OnSight's first products were built primarily for the local mountaineering and rock climbing populations, in addition to some custom designs and manufacturing for a variety of private and government organizations. The initial product line was composed of rock climbing slings, safety tethers and bags designed for climbing ropes, chalk, and crampons. In relative quick succession, a line of more elaborate items evolved, including mountaineering backpacks and stuff-sacks.
In 2003, OnSight introduced the first line of sustainable travel and storage products, to fill a recognized need for high quality, well-designed travel products. Thanks to the company's technical sewing expertise, innovative designs, attention to quality control and extensive knowledge of recycled plastic (PET) fabrics and fittings, many have become classics in their categories.
Almost 100% of the materials used in our Travel Organizer series are produced from recycled plastic water bottles, or Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). This includes fabric, mesh, buckles, webbing and zippers. Our Tarmac duffel pack series is also produced from non-toxic tarpaulin material. In 2011, OnSight introduced the Sightline backpack series, six backpack styles made from recycled PET plastic textiles, as well as laptop/messenger bags, also made from recycled PET fabric. From 2012-2014 OnSight combined the fabrics from the Tarmac Duffel series with the recycled textiles to create lines of RFID theft-sheilding wallets, passport pouches, money pouches and waist packs.
